About this audiobook

From the Amazon Charts and #1 New York Times bestselling author comes a psychological thriller exploring the things we dare to do when no one is looking . . .

The community along Oregon’s Deschutes River is one of successful careers and perfect families. For years, up-and-comers Liz and Owen have admired their good friends and neighbors, Carole and David. They appear to have it all—security, happiness, and a beautiful young son, Charlie.

Then Charlie vanishes without a trace, and all that seemed safe is shattered by a tragedy that is incomprehensible—except to Liz.

It took one fleeting moment for her to change the lives of everyone she loves—a heartrending accident that can’t be undone. Neither can the second-worst mistake of her life: concealing it. As two marriages crack and buckle in grief and fear, Liz retreats into her own dark place of guilt, escalating paranoia—and betrayals even she can’t imagine. Because there’s another good neighbor who has his own secrets, his own pain, and his own reasons for watching Liz’s every move.

And only he knows that the mystery of the missing boy on the Deschutes River is far from over.

Whoa! What a rollercoaster of a book. I was literally yelling at my phone while listening "No! Are you kidding me?!" I could not stop listening until I found out what happened in the end.

Well-written, but so very dark and disturbing. Not a book to enjoy, but to read in the way that we watch disaster or tragedies unfold on the news...horrible, but we can’t look away. After a night of cramming for an exam (fueled by drugs), Liz backs into the neighbor’s three-year-old boy. Does she call for help? No, she puts the boy on the work table in the garage, cleans up the evidence and drives off to her exam. She tells her husband what she has done, and does he do the right thing? Of course not. These are not sympathetic characters...in fact, none of the characters are likable. Rather depressing.

The entire premise of the book is not credible. The writing is pretty terrible. The ending became predictable well before the end. The character portrayals are superficial, and the characters themselves are not likable in any way.

Just can’t get into this one. The beginning with the flash flood sounded quite appealing.. but then it made a time jump to the present in the 2nd chapter… and one character was drugged up and didn’t see her neighbor/best friends kid … and ran him over.. and hid his body in her garage so she could go take the bar exam.. totally plausible…… combine that with how whiny and awful every character is… I just can’t take it.
If pure implausibility and obnoxious Ferrari seeking men are your thing, you might like this. If not, RUN!!

I really liked the narrator, thought they did a great job. But story was a bit long winded. Ending happy but unbelievable.

A good read. I found it a bit confusing with the different deaths of Charlie. I wasn't sure what to believe.

Very good, always looked forward to listening to this book. I was appalled at what they did & tried to put myself in their position, hoping that I'm as good a person as I think I am!

One of the best book I have read. It is so well described that you almost felt like you are watching the situation unfold right in-front of you.

Not as expected. A long drawn story which didn't require so much elaboration. Good in parts.

This book has a lot of twists and turns to keep you interested and guessing. I did figure it out relatively early on, but I wasn’t completely sure. Some of the characters were a little formulaic (the detective in particular), but all in all a solid read.

Awesome! I did want the main character to die tho. No spoilers, just wanted her ridiculously whiny ass dead. Other than that, I loved it. Was a good read and kept me interested pretty much the whole time.????

I thought this was a decent book, kept my interest from beginning to end. It was the end however that I did not like. I won’t say anymore, as I don’t want to give anything away.

cliffhanger! another great audio book that leaves you guessing until the very end. The characters for me were hard to follow at first but as the story got going the storyline sucked you to right in. it wasn't until somewhere around chapter 54 that I finally figured out what happened to Charlie.

This was a really good book with a lot of suspenseful moments and very good character development. It’s the first book in a long time that made me actually hate a few of the characters and feel empathy for others.

This book is horrible—in a good way—from the start. There’s an accident, a missing child, and guilt-ridden adults who behave like selfish mongrels fighting over the last bit of raw meat on a carcass. Gregg Olsen knows how to set up a suspenseful story and fill it with despicable characters that you love to hate. Jeezzzzzz, Liz! Just kill yourself already! No spoilers, but Liz will make you get another glass of wine, pound the arms of your recliner, and yell at your husband when he unwittingly interrupts your reading. (Not me. I didn’t do that.) The Last Thing She Ever Did is a gripping, heart-wrenching book with a twisty yet satisfying wind-up. If you love engaging thrillers that keep you turning pages, you must read this one.

Yet another winner by this wonderfully talented author. It's exciting...suspenseful... and believable. Olsen blends characters into the storyline slowly allowing the reader to ponder the who, why and how. The ending will surprise you and leave you wanting more.
