About this audiobook
In Rediscovering Americanism, Mark R. Levin revisits the founders’ warnings about the perils of overreach by the federal government and concludes that the men who created our country would be outraged and disappointed to see where we’ve ended up.
Levin returns to the impassioned question he’s explored in each of his bestselling books: How do we save our exceptional country? Because our values are in such a precarious state, he argues that a restoration to the essential truths on which our country was founded has never been more urgent. Understanding these principles, in Levin’s words, can “serve as the antidote to tyrannical regimes and governments.” Rediscovering Americanism is not an exercise in nostalgia, but an appeal to his fellow citizens to reverse course.
This essential book brings Levin’s celebrated, sophisticated analysis to the troubling question of America’s future, and reminds us what we must restore for the sake of our children and our children’s children.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Well done. I also liked your previous post on Levin's book which compared Levin's differentiations between Progressives and the Sane (I forget what you called the latter).
I urge you to read Fred Siegel's book. I consider it a prequel to Diana West's take-down of the FDR Communist regime. Briefer, though, and since no Bigs on the Right went after Siegel, not so widely read. However, he was interviewed here and there. His comments made me homesick for college when it was real...
"The Revolt Against the Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class"
This short book rewrites the history of modern American liberalism. It shows that what we think of as liberalism—the top-and-bottom coalition we associate with President Obama—began not with Progressivism or the New Deal but rather in the wake of WWI, in disillusionment with American society. In the 1920s, the first thinkers to call themselves liberals adopted the hostility to bourgeois life that had long characterized European intellectuals of both the left and right. The aim of liberalism’s founders—such as Herbert Croly, Randolph Bourne, H.G. Wells, Sinclair Lewis, and H.L. Mencken—was to create an American version of the aristocracy long associated with European statism.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The title alone speaks to the unending hypocrisy of a senile man lost to religious zealotry and the fundamental need to spread his particular contrarianism upon others. If you are looking for either intellect or insight from Levin, you would be better served sticking your head in a woodchipper. It will have the same desired effect.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Essential reading for every American. A true masterwork. Stunning clarity and scope with historical and contemporary context. Easily could have been a volume but Levin managed to engineer a fluid and dynamic capture of America's philosophical origins and the forces that threaten to erode its foundational principles.
