About this audiobook

Anise can't wait to spend the summer before her senior year surfing and hanging out on the beach with friends. Santa Cruz is more than her home-it's her heart. But when her aunt is in a serious car accident, Anise must say goodbye to California to go help care for her three young cousins in Nebraska-the last place Anise wants to be. As much as she loves her family, it's hard to put her past behind her when she's living in the childhood house of the mother who abandoned her. But then she meets Lincoln, a charismatic, one-armed skater who challenges her to swap her surfboard for a skateboard, and she discovers that sometimes the only way to find your footing is to let go.

Too bad I read this a year late. I would have loved to have put this on the list for Gateway consideration. I loved Anise's self discovery of home, family, friends, and forgiveness.

The narrator went a bit overboard with her Performance. I thinks she wanted too much to sound like a teenager. I also didn't like her 'voice' for Lincoln. She tried too hard to sound like a black guy.
The story was....,well a YA story. I did like the idea behind it but I think the author could have made more of It.
All in all a bit boring.

    DNF at 52%
this book wasn’t given anything to me. it’s was quick and easy to read but a pretty forgettable one

Anise sweetheart, responding messages your friends wasn’t that hard. no matter how much she complains she miss her friends, she doesn’t reply them back. (make sense right?) girl you are so self centered. all you think is they so happy without her...blah blah. yes! girl the world doesn’t revolve around you.

i feel sorry for Eric though, she kissed her childhood friend right before she leaves and then she bails on him, stops responding his messages. so much of a lifelong best friend. (so much drama, rolling my eyes) so I designed to DNF for my sake
