About this audiobook

Each of Cynthia Rylant's Henry and Mudge books gives young readers another chance to spend happy moments with the young boy and his enormous dog. The two friends' days are filled with sunshine and adventure. But there are always surprises waiting for them, too. One night, Henry and his parents find a stray cat on their doorstep. It's not a pretty cat, but it is very friendly. Once it meets Mudge, it is also a very happy cat. What will happen, now, if someone claims Mudge's scruffy new friend? George Guidall's narration brings out all the frisky, affectionate humor in Henry and Mudge and the Happy Cat. Young readers and their parents will laugh out loud at the gentle and unlikely bond between the two animals, and they will enjoy the delightful solution to their dilemma.

I have a lot of respect for Henry's mom. In some ways I want to be her, with a big porch & yard & trees, and long dresses and bare feet - but I don't want a huge slobbery dog, thank you.

This is such a fun and loving book. Henry and his best friend (dog) mudge fall in love with this stray cat that arrives on their front porch. Henry's parents do not want to keep this shabby cat, so they made posters for a lost cat. The cat's owner found him and took the cat back, but it left Henry and Mudge sad. The nice owner who was a police officer knew that they loved the cat, so he sent a present (bones and a badge) to Mudge and Henry from the cat Dave. Great read aloud and easy to follow!

Henry finds a cat outside and it becomes part of the family. When its owner comes, they miss it, but feel a little bit better with a present of dog bones and a police badge for Mudge and Henry.
