About this audiobook

Detectives Micki Dare and Zach Harris are back in Triple Six, their second adventure in Erica Spindler’s supernatural thriller series The Lightkeepers.

It's been three months since that night - the night that Micki almost died. Physically, she's healed but the nightmares remain, and she can't shake the feeling that more happened that night than Zach is telling her. The only thing she can do is try to carry on as normal and solve the latest case she and Zach have been assigned to.

A string of brutal home invasions are rocking New Orleans and the families targeted seemingly have nothing in common. Why were these victims chosen? The deeper Micki and Zach go into the case, the more they realize something isn't right. There's something familiar about the person doing this - and it's a familiarity Micki has been trying to forget. Suddenly, this case is hitting too close to home and Micki has to decide if she really wants to learn the truth about that night . . .

Erica Spindler

No matter how innocent the story being relayed to me is, I can twist it into something pretty damn frightening. I've learned the real trick is not sharing these versions with those relaying the story. It tends to make people avoid me.” ~ Erica Spindler A New York Times and International bestselling author, Erica Spindler's skill for crafting engrossing plots and compelling characters has earned both critical praise and legions of fans. Published in 25 countries, her stories have been lauded as “thrill-packed page turners, white- knuckle rides and edge-of-your-seat whodunits.” Raised in Rockford, Illinois, Erica had planned on being an artist, earning a BFA from Delta State University and an MFA from the University of New Orleans in the visual arts. In June of 1982, in bed with a cold, she picked up a romance novel for relief from daytime television. She was immediately hooked, and soon decided to try to write one herself. She leaped from romance to suspense in 1996 with her novel Forbidden Fruit, and found her true calling. Her novel Bone Cold won the prestigious Daphne du Maurier Award for excellence. A Romance Writers of America Honor Roll member, she received a Kiss of Death Award for her novels Forbidden Fruit and Dead Run and was a three-time RITA® Award finalist.  Publishers Weekly awarded the audio version of her novel Shocking Pink a Listen Up Award, naming it one of the best audio mystery books of 1998. Erica lives just outside New Orleans, Louisiana, with her husband and two sons and is busy at work on her next thriller.

Micki Dare and Zach Harris are called to investigate a series of home invasions. This is the second book in the Light keepers series where Erica Spindler delves into the supernatural.I read the first in the series purely because I enjoy books by ES. I did feel that for me I prefer her romantic suspense, crime thrillers. I just couldn't gel with the supernatural elements to the story. Not because I don't read that genre because I do. I just felt that ES and supernatural don't mix. After reading the second book I still feel the same. I really enjoy books by ES and will always look out for them. This book I felt was slightly better than the first one in the series. I did feel however the book was slow going and I was plodding through it. I would have enjoyed it more without the supernatural elements to the story. I like the two main characters and can see more for them in future books. I just don't think for me that ES and supernatural go together.

This is part of a paranormal series with characters that are likable and really come to life. I was hoping for a little more paranormal theme and by the end of the book I felt that it had more of a "secret experiment that had gone sideways" feel to it. However the mystery/thriller feel with a romantic angle is there in spades. I believe that Erica Spindler should decide which genre these books are going to take and stick more to it. Good stories...good plots...great characters... but too much an across the board feel overall.
