- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book seemed to jump around from one band of people to the next alot, although it's understandable; the whole series is like one giant book divided into four parts, which all add up to a great read. Recommended!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The story of the Ohmsford family and their relationship to the Four Lands and the Druids continues. This is book one of a series of four that really must be read as a complete set.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Terry Brooks creates a really cool, new world in his books. It may be a bit ard to follow if you haven't read any other Shannara books, but you'll cathc on pretty quickly. This book is about threee people, all related to this hero who lived three hundred years ago, and they get sent on this quest to find the Sword of Shannara. It's like a Lord of the Rings sort of thing, but with a different plot. I reccomend to people who like that kind of Eragon, Lord of the Rings stuff.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book. I like the story, hate the ending. I just don't like it when so many things are left undone. That said, I love the continuity with the other books. I didn't care for the narrator changing the pronunciation of names. Over all I would recommend this book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was good, standard fantasy. Nothing too crazy or innovative, but still fun. The characters were not that memorable, but not completely flat, they had some "meat on their bones". I've got the other 2 books, but they're kind of long, so not sure if we'll end up getting to them or not. Just seems like since I'm over 50 now I need to make sure I'm spending my time reading "great" books instead of "good" ones. I'm much more excited about trying new authors to see if they're going to blow my mind than something I know is just going to be a decent read.I read The Sword of Shannara in my late teens and liked it. I'm sure people who have read more of the Shannara books would probably enjoy this series even more than I did.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great addition to a great series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another part of the Shannara series, which is (as per usual with Terry Brooks) very slow to take off, as he seeks to introduce everything in the first 100 pages.
