Leadership bootcamp…

Go to leadership bootcamp with two former Navy SEALs and become a braver, more decisive mentor than you’ve ever been before. After experiencing the fog of war, these SEALs emerged with a clear view of what makes a leader — and subsequently, their whole team — great.

Descrizione

In Extreme Ownership, Jocko Willink and Leif Babin share hard-hitting Navy SEAL combat stories that translate into lessons for business and life. With riveting firsthand accounts of making high-pressure decisions as Navy SEAL battlefield leaders, this audiobook is equally gripping for leaders who seek to dominate other arenas.

Jocko and Leif served together in SEAL Task Unit Bruiser, the most highly decorated Special Operations unit from the war in Iraq. Their efforts contributed to the historic triumph for US forces in Ramadi. Through those difficult months of sustained combat, Jocko, Leif, and their SEAL brothers learned that leadership — at every level — is the most important thing on the battlefield. They started Echelon Front to teach these same leadership principles to companies across industries throughout the business world that want to build their own high-performance, winning teams.

This audio-book explains the SEAL leadership concepts crucial to accomplishing the most difficult missions in combat and how to apply them to any group, team, or organization. It provides the listener with Jocko and Leif's formula for success: the mind-set and guiding principles that enable SEAL combat units to achieve extraordinary results. It demonstrates how to apply these directly to business and life to likewise achieve victory.

The audio-book includes an interview with the authors.

A unique inside look at one of the most disciplined organizations in the world leadership team. Inspiring and awakening lessons for a better life and business.

I've seen both the authors on various interviews, they come across well.

Both Jocko and Leif are personable, charismatic characters with a great thematic gig going for them, a simple application of real combat experience to the corporate world of leadership. I am sure that the cadre of white collar warriors with deep corporate pockets out there looking for ways to organise management glitches got their money's worth.

A man needs a thing, it doesn't matter what that think is. As long as it works. Afterall, ''business is war'' as we all know.

The writing is clear, concise and the delivery fits. It's really not so much a book, though as a well oiled machine and vehicle for the delivery of the authors' points of view.

A quarter of a century ago, when Japan was the world's economic miracle, the philosophy of bushido, the way of the samurai and Hoshin Kanri were were state-of-the-art concepts for the then fashionable delivery vehicle for the delivery of management styles. The Japanese were doing good, so whatever the Japanese did to get good, we should, too.

Then was then and this is now. You just decide what color filter you want to see the world through and stick with it. Keep your ideas simple and hammer them in over and over to nail it. It's discipline and rhetoric and it's more comforting and easier to understand than say, Taleb's ideas of resiliency and Black Swans.

In summary, there is not much new here. But these two ex-Seals do have style, interesting & entertaining war stories and the ability to illustrate their points (in the style of Robert Greene) eloquently.

The perspective between the war stories and business stories really helps you to understand the concept of extreme ownership. It is a concept that I'll do my best to apply in my own life, both personal and in my career as a teacher.

Great insight and ability to relay battlefield to life. Great understanding of how to apply lessons learned from military background into life and business and all facets of leadership. Highly recommend. But, remain open minded, so you can fully grasp the concepts and know it’s not bragging about battles won, because those principles that won those battles are the same principles for you to win yours

Extremely useful principles told with amazingly engaging real-life examples. Wonderful story-telling by the authors. I’m going to listen again and take notes to apply these principles to my life and business.

Fantastic book on leadership. Feels so much directional now after hearing this book.
  • (4/5)
One of the best books on leadership that i have read. To know the basics of leadership from a military standpoint is the strength of this book. Most of the leadership books I read are from a business perspective. But this book tells you how to apply military principles in business. I would have given 5 stars but the last few chapters went on draggy. But overall it was a great book and a must read for all.

Excellent incorporation of lessons learned of the battlefield which can be utilized in everyday life. The stories of war were exciting and were very clear as to what lesson can be learned from it. Jocco and Leif did a great job at reading it and it wouldn’t have had the same effect if anyone else had done it.
