About this audiobook
Sam Dryden lives quietly in a small coastal town in southern California, buying and fixing up old houses. It's good physical work that he's come to love. But his peaceful life is shattered when he gets a phone call from an old friend in trouble. A phone call that pulls Dryden into the middle of a situation that's as violent as it is baffling.
For FBI agent Marnie Calvert, it all begins at a secluded trailer in the Mojave Desert-the scene of a horrifying crime, but also of an impossible and mysterious act of heroism. At least, it should have been impossible. Determined to learn the truth, what Calvert discovers leads her to Sam Dryden-an ex-Special Forces operative whose ordinary life has suddenly become anything but.
Through their actions, Dryden and Calvert have unknowingly placed themselves in the cross-hairs of a frightening and dangerous enemy, the result of a generations-long conspiracy finally coming to fruition. What these people have is a technology that allows them to affect events before they even happen. How they are planning to use it, however, will result in the death of millions. To defeat them, Dryden will need to do more than think fast-he'll need to think around corners, and face down an enemy that can seize on his mistakes before he even makes them.
Following the national bestseller Runner, Sam Dryden, Patrick Lee's most indelible creation, returns in one of the most compelling, breathless thrillers yet---Signal.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Classic- well written, interesting plot that keeps you interested in what’s going on next, mix of technological sci fi and thriller/action stuff.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this author's Breach series, which was more sci fi oriented and I also liked "Runner", the first book in this Dryden series. Unfortunately, I didn't like this book very much. It was a serviceable thriller, but despite the addition of a super secret radio it was just a lot of conventional running/chasing/shooting. Disappointing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Keeps the tension till very end. Somewhat grizly at some points. Liked it
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Signal by Patrick Lee is the second in his Sam Dryden series and the second I have read. As with Lee’s first book in the series, Runner, the second book is chockablock full of action, adventure, suspense, and expertly placed plot twists throughout the book. Signal stands well on its own and readers who are new to the series will be able to fully appreciate the book, however I think once readers are introduced to ex-forces operative Sam Dryden, they will want to read the book that started the series. While the device and the conspiracies lean more toward science fiction than reality, they are integral to the plot and do not detract from this extremely well written work of action and suspense. Sam Dryden is ex-Special Forces and receives a phone call from a colleague in the middle of the night which takes him racing to the Sierra Nevadas to rescue four kidnapped girls, it is not until they are safe that Dryden is fully briefed on what exactly is going on and the implications this mission he has agreed to has on not only his own life, but the lives of others. As with his first book, Lee has crafted an intense, fast-paced, action adventure with a main character, while flawed, is very difficult not to like, and in so doing has outdone himself with his latest nail bitter, which will not only keep the reader guessing, but also turning the pages long into the night. I highly recommend Signal to readers who enjoy well written, plot twisting, action packed suspense novels.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5There were some problems for me with the plot's basic premise. But, if you can suspend your disbelief, this is an enjoyable read and well done thriller.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Patrick Lee's second Sam Dryden book is as good as his first, which was a hard act to follow. As fast moving, again with characters that fill the story. A friend of Sam's, Marnie Clavert, calls Sam and tells him to leave the house immediately leaving his cell phone behind and drive two hours to a location where she will meet him and when he does the action begins and doesn't stop. The book takes place over a two day period. Two days where more than one life is held in the balance. Sam Dryden is as much a hero as Jack Reacher. In fact, I like Sam best. Anyone who likes a tense adventure thriller should enjoy this book.
