      It is pretty fun revisiting Fear Street again! I devoured these books when I was younger. I thought this one was a little different than I remember the "typical" fear street books, but then again it has been awhile since I read them. I thought this one was OK, but I didn't find the ending all that great. Was a tad disappointed with it.

      Delightfully gruesome!Lisa's life is turned upside down by a terrible car crash that claims her father's life. There is so much healing to be done. But which scars are the worst... the physical, or the mental? Lisa soon goes back to school under the watchful eye of her psychiatrist and worrisome mother. Lisa even retains a job as a babysitter. However she soon realizes the money isn't worth babysitting this 8 year old boy. Something terrible is happening on Fear Street and it's claiming the lives of Lisa's friends one by one. Will she discover the secrets and expose the truth; not to mention make it out...alive?I can't say enough times how much I love RL Stine's writing. Just enough detail but not too much. The stories flow effortlessly from one conundrum to another. The characters are simple and believable. He is just an awesome writer.Although I thought the ending was a little goofy (as per Stine's style), the book was awesome! I enjoyed it very much and look forward to reading the next Fear Street installment. I highly recommend this book to teen readers and above.

      Every time I read a R. L. Stine book it always feels a bit nostalgic as I grew up reading his books. I enjoyed this quick, easy read. The story was a bit easy to figure out, still enjoyed it though.

      After seeing that the R.L. Stine's Fear Street series was returning, I had to give this one a try. I used to read my brothers’ copies of these books and they genuinely creeped me out back then. I wasn’t nearly as on the edge of my seat this time around, but I still enjoyed the nostalgic ride.

      In “Don’t Stay Up Late”, Lisa is adjusting well in her new high school until a horrific car accident involving her family. Afterwards she begins having nightmares and struggles to distinguish between reality and images resulting from her trauma. Her therapist assures her that she’s ready to take on babysitting, which goes fine until she starts hallucinating on the job. Or is she??? Could it be because the house is located on the infamously cursed Fear Street??? Hrmmm……

      Stine stays true to his brand of creepy and keeps up the suspense, although the story is at times slow. I had to take off a star for the abrupt and melodramatic endings of the very short chapters. Every single one. Did it used to be like that? Also, the gaping holes in the plot (funeral, anybody?) are strange.

      Stine adds modern references (iPads, cell phones, FaceTime) and yet somehow this book has that same old 80s/90s feel of the old books. If the main character had made use of these things early on in the book, this would have been a much different, much shorter story. The characters themselves don’t feel very modern. They’re far too wholesome ;) I was not expecting that ending. Overall, the atmosphere of the town and Fear Street felt familiar.

      This was part fun stroll down memory lane, part light entertainment. I wonder how it’s going to be received by a new crowd. Fear Street fans should definitely check it out.

      I was so over the top excited to check out this relaunch of the Fear Street series. I can remember reading these books when I was younger. Actually I read all of Mr. Stine's series and watched the television series as well. The best part about these books were the "campy" feel of the stories. Some were scary. What I felt like I was missing with this book was the "campy" feel. Also there was nothing really scary about this book. While the monster in this story was not something I would want to meet late at night by myself. There was no real connection to what the monster was to the story as a whole at first, so thus the monster was not scary. Also, I had no close connection with Lisa or any of the other characters in this book. The ending was alright. However because I grew up reading books by Mr. Stine. I will probably check out another book in this series to see if the books do get better to what I remember.
