About this audiobook
It's been seven years since Lexi Knight lost her brother in a tragic accident. On the anniversary of his death, her brother's best friend shows up unexpectedly-a man she hasn't seen since the funeral. He is no longer the boy Lexi once knew, but a dangerous-looking man with tattoos and dark secrets. He broke her trust and abandoned her family, yet what he reveals makes it impossible to stay angry. Lexi has been secretly infatuated with Austin since childhood, so finding out he's a Shifter just makes him sexier. Dammit.
Austin Cole has returned to the city where he grew up, and just in time. He's lived a hard life these past seven years, and the shadows of his past are threatening to destroy Lexi's family. It's time that she learned the truth about her brother, but there is a shocking twist that Austin never saw coming. Now he must protect her family when her mother and sister wind up in mortal danger. Will Lexi learn to accept the truth about who he is, and can Austin salvage a relationship from the ruins of their past?

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I liked the premise and I have enjoyed other books by this author but this one fell short for me. The main character annoyed me and a lot of the story seemed to be written only as filler. This made me lose interest and stop paying attention to the details. It felt unnecessarily drawn out and made it become a rare dnf book for me.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved this!!!! Perfectly paced, funny, sexy characters, and no overly drawn out scenes. Kept my interest through the entire story and definitely entertaining.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The start of a new series with a new author. This was a good story with depth and flesh out characters. Lexi could be annoying sometimes and over the top in her emotions that causes her to be flippant and insensitive sometimes. At least when she catches her mistake or she offends someone she apologizes and more on, so I can mostly relate. So I want to get to know the rest of the gang. The boys, April et al, definitely should have interesting stories.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I started with the CrossBreed Series, and really enjoyed that series. So I figured I would go back and give some of Dannika's earlier books out. I respect and appreciate the narration of Nicole Poole. A very important aspect in Audiobooks. I enjoyed Seven Years, I think there definitely a much larger focus on going over the top on Romance compared to that in Crossbreed. But none the less its still a worthy series for Urban Fantasy fans.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lexi and Austin
Different kind of a shape-shifter story; Lexi is 28 when she learns shes a Wolf Shape-Shifter and that she's adopted.
Austin was her brother's best friend but he's been gone since Wes, Lexi's Brother, died seven years ago. Now he's back trying to protect Lexi, her Mother and little Sister.
Interesting take on Shape-Shifters but Lexi seemed so dense! It was hard to keep reading at times because she was so not reading the subtext of what was going on. Hard to believe anyone can be so miss-reading what's going on while living for 28 years. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was surprised how much this book drew me in. I admit to having reached a time when the whole what am I wearing?/What nail polish do I have? as a ploy to give a character depth has come to drive me insane and I was impressed how the author manages to give her characters enough substance and humanity with deeper characterisations.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I wasn't sure about SEVEN YEARS before I started it but i liked the cover and I jumped right in, WOO HOO am I ever glad I did. As Lexi, her mom and her little sister sit eating ice cream the last person Lexi expects to see walks through the door. Austin wasn't only her brothers best friend but Lexi was head over heals for him as a little girl. After her brother died Austin disappeared. Now that he is back Lexi doesn't know how to feel.So much happened its hard to decide where to start. I loved the characters, not one of them didn't bring something to the story. Lexi is a pretty strong and real gal. I had no problem connecting to her, her feelings or the situations she found herself in. Holy alpha male Austin. He is protective, overbearing, stubborn, name it he brings it to the table but oh how I loved reading about him and watching him grow as a character. Together the two rocked my brain. They seriously had great chemistry. Dannika did a great job of bringing you up to speed on the characters past's and merging them with their present and future. There is a lot of shifter political stuff going on and I enjoyed that. The twists and turns came frequently and they kept me on my toes. As I said above the characters all filled a space, not to say that I liked them all but they all played a role and I didn't feel like any of them weren't needed. There really wasn't anything I didn't enjoy about SEVEN YEARS and I don't want to give away any spoilers. So what comes next? No idea because everything seemed to be well wrapped up by the end of SEVEN YEARS but I want more of Lexi, Austin and the pack so I will be looking out for book 2.* This book was provided free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lexi Knight’s brother, Wes, died seven years ago in a tragic motorcycle accident. Not only did she lose her brother back then, but she lost his best friend, Austin Cole. He was like a member of the family and her childhood crush but after Wes’s death, he deserted them. Austin Cole has secrets. He’s a shifter and Wes demise wasn’t an accident. Now on the seventh anniversary of Wes’s passing Austin is back, and he’s there to stay. Dannika Dark did an incredible job with Seven Years the first book in the Seven series. The flow of the book is perfect. The characters are diverse and interesting. The plot is fascinating and full of surprises.I was really happy to discover this is going to be a series. I just did not get enough from one book. I want more. Six Months book 2 in the Seven Series cannot come fast enough.ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
