About this audiobook

In 1879 John Muir went to Alaska for the first time. Its stupendous living glaciers aroused his unbounded interest, for they enabled him to verify his theories of glacial action. Again and again he returned to this continental laboratory of landscapes. The greatest of the tide-water glaciers appropriately commemorates his name. Upon this book of Alaska travels, all but finished before his unforeseen departure, John Muir expended the last months of his life. (Summary by William Frederic Bade)

Great book for nature lovers. I listen as I day walk the Appalachian Trail.

The writing by John Muir himself is excellent, and that I would give 10/10 stars.

However, the chapter 1 intro was painfully bland and flat. I don’t know who recorded it, but it was hard to bear. It was not by the main voice.

The main voice itself is fine, but pretty monotone and hard to follow if not fully invested.

The reader was deadly dull. It’s unfortunate that a good book was impossible to listen to.
