About this audiobook
The star of the hit show Glee shares her experiences and insider tips on beauty, fashion, inner strength, and more in a book that's part memoir, part how-to, and part style guide.
Lea Michele is one of the hardest working performers in show business. Whether she's starring as Rachel Berry on Glee, rocking a glamorous look on the red carpet, recording her solo album, or acting as the spokesperson for L'Oreal, Lea is the ultimate multi-tasker. She knows better than anyone that it is difficult to be your best self and keep things in perspective when your to-do list is overflowing and you are faced with challenges, so she's developed a foolproof system for remaining healthy and centered.
In Brunette Ambition, she reveals the lessons and advice that have worked for her--from beauty and fashion secrets to fitness tips, and career insights. Supplemented with revealing anecdotes, it's the book Lea wishes she'd had in her teens and early twenties: A practical and inspirational guide to harnessing tenacity and passion and living the fullest life, no matter what obstacles life puts in your way.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very Inspiring! Lea Michele really opened up to her personal life, her tips and tricks for staying healthy and beautiful and her love for the broadway stage and the big screen.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I did not love this book, but I did not hate it either. It had some useful information and good points, but it was crammed with so many different topics that I found it an odd mix. I first became a Lea Michele fan from Glee. I have since developed a major girl crush on her and wish she was my best friend. I was not the target audience for this book. The book seemed targeted to younger Lea Michele fans. I would say her book is equal parts autobiography, self-help and advice. I enjoyed the autobiographical parts because it gave me insight in to her life, and she really encourages you to be yourself and pursue your dreams. Other parts of the book feature: recipes, healthy eating tips, self-care tips, exercise tips, style advice, make-up and hair tips and features on her fashion and glamour sense. She gives her own insights while also providing advice and tips from professionals she trusts. If you love fashion and make up, then the fact probably a third of the book focuses on this would make you love this book a lot more than I did. I am not in to fashion and make-up, and this made a third of the book useless to me. Some of the self care tips feature things like hair masks and home spa day tips that can be done by even women on a budget, which I appreciated since money is always tight for me. I bookmarked some of the self care tips to try out. Some recipes are vegan, which is nice since I am vegetarian. However, most can easily be adapted to be made with regular cheese if you are not vegan, and she must not be vegan since she uses fish in a recipe. Most recipes did not appeal to me. Most were really basic things, but I did mark a few to try. Another section I bookmarked so I can use it later, is the strengthening routine. It can easily be followed since Lea demonstrates each move and it is meant to be done at home so any one can try it.Overall, I think the book was well written. Lea has a clear voice and opinion and expresses herself well. However, the book is crammed with so many different sections and I did not like that. Is it worth buying? Only if you are interesting in more of the sections I mentioned than I was. If not, it is definitely more of a library read. lostbraincell.weebly.com
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received a copy thru Blogging for Books. This was very interesting self-help/style/beauty tips/recipe/all around glimpse into the life of Lea Michelle. I am honored to be able to read this book and I was excited to get a copy. The photography was phenomenal and I enjoyed reading about her life before Glee. There was only a brief mentioning of Corey Monteith and I wished there was more about him. My quirk with this book was the font for the photographs was horrible and heard to read if you are over 40 years old. I did like her home made remedies for hair and face, this is worth keeping the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So inspiring! I love this book, now it’s one of my favorites.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved this book. I discovered a great actress to follow. Very down to earth and sweet.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was given to me by the publisher, Random House, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!I thought this book was going to be more of a memoir but found it to be an informational, motivational, and inspirational book. I feel it's geared to the younger crowd, especially fans of 'Glee' and those in the age group that reads magazines like 'Seventeen.' However, I enjoyed it enough to give it 4 Stars.Lea Michele is a role model for young women. She generously provides her practical hints and tips on clean living. She does a good job of sharing information and how she maintains her personal health and celebrity with chapters on beauty care, fitness routines, and healthy recipes. She also writes about show business, friendships, fashion, and her life on 'Glee.'This was a quick read for me with lots of photographs to enjoy.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am only familiar with Lea from Glee. I don't know anything else beyond this. I say this because I know television is not a true portrayal of who someone really is. However I love Lea as Rachel on Glee. So I was intrigued to get to read her book. This is an awesome book. Lea is so humble and sweet. It was like talking with a girlfriend as I was reading this book. All of the tips she shared from staying healthy, work ethics, family, friends, food, and being a style icon was cool. After reading this book, I would so like to hang out with Lea. All the tips that Lea shared were not just ones that you could pick up anywhere on the internet. Well some of the advice but I felt that she really and truly cared about sharing her tips and thus it did not feel like cookie cutter advice. This book makes a nice coffee table book. Because you will want to refer to it again and again.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I love Lea Michele and I enjoyed learning about her big break and how she got her start in acting. I mostly enjoyed chapters on self-care and everyday style however my problem with those chapters is the same as my problem with the entire book. I was amazed to read that she works 17 hour days, has hobbies, works out, eats healthy, pampers herself, focuses on style and maintains a social life with close friends and, at the time, Cory. The book was cute and I loved all the photos, recipes and at-home skincare tips. The little parts she dedicated to Cory at the beginning and end of the book were heartwarming and I was surprised to hear he had such a big impact on the editing of the book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's hard to write an autobiography when you are still in your 20s. This book was filled with recipes, makeover tips, workout advice, and other how-to things. Want to know Lea's favorite stores and favorite brands? It's in here.
Obviously I am not the target market for this book. I got my copy for free from a giveaway from Bibliophile. I like biographies and autobiographies, but this wasn't quite that. You could probably get most of what she covered in this book by checking her website or IMDB or whatever.
I'd say the audience for this is Glee fans and YA readers. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review. I mainly got it because I thought my daughter would enjoy the book, since it talks a lot about Lea’s Broadway career. It pretty much lived up to the expectations I had of it, which were not huge. Lea seems to have a pretty solid head on her shoulders, and the book is full of mostly-good advice. You get the definite picture, though, that her life is not like those in the “real world”, so not everything she advises can really be put in to practice by the Average Joan. Still, there are some good tips and tricks that a young adult can apply to their daily lives, and it’s an interesting look into hers. It was a little less “meaty” than it could be perhaps. It’s definitely written for the young adult crowd. Not a bad book to sit and read in the school pick-up line.
Would I recommend this to my BFF? No.
Would I recommend this to my teen? Sure. I’m planning on letting her have the book.
3.5 of 5 stars. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Review
I really enjoyed reading this book. Lea Michelle gives us a quick look into her life.
This is like most biographies. It's a mix of biography, recipes, fitness, food, and taking care of yourself. I found myself writing down some of the things Lea Michelle said as inspiration. I loved getting the peek into her life growing up. She shows how important her family is to her, and how she's made friends through the years.
I think my favorite parts of this book were the recipes and healthy/beauty parts. The food she makes looks absolutely yummy. I'm definitely going to be trying some of them. I also like that she gives ideas for spa days at home, and has a pretty great workout plan.
If you are a fan of Lea Michelle and want to know a little bit more about her inspirations, life, and daily regimens, Brunette Ambition is definitely a book to pick up.
