Each book gets better and better. Didn't care for the person's Roark accent tho. Made him sound like a lepprican.

Another excellent novella in the In Death series. This time Eve and her team investigate the murder of a young nanny and the disappearance of her twin charges.
This one had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end as the tension around the kidnapping intensifies, and the clock appears to be running out for little Henry and his sister, Gala (love the allusions to Hansel & Gretel interspersed throughout the tale).
It is incredible how Robb keeps hers her readers so engaged in such a long-running series. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The cold-blooded killing of a nanny and the disappearance of twins Henry and Galla, the two children she cared for, pulls New York Police and Security homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas into a case that is a kidnapping for revenge. This Hansel-and-Gretel-themed novella, appearing in “Mirror, Mirror” anthology, follows “Thankless in Death” and precedes “Concealed in Death.” Once again, readers know the identity of the culprit, thanks to the security camera, and the unfolding narrative highlights the on-going investigation and the race to find the children. The only downside to this tightly-woven tale is the frustratingly overused, annoying literary convention that establishes the relationship between the children’s mother and the villain. Recommended.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lieutenant Eve Dallas working a homicide and discovers that in addition to the homicide, there has also been two kidnapping. She discovers that a pair of twins (a boy and a girl) have been abducted from their home and Eve and the usual cast are on hand to help. I loved that in such a short novella J.D. Robb was still able to pack in a lot of action and have Eve and her team working doggedly to determine who took the twins and how to find them. I really would have loved to see this in a longer novel since it really was interesting and it was great that we were able to see everyone interacting (Peabody, Callendar, McNab, Feeney, and everyone else we have grown to love over the years). I really wish that J.D. Robb would consider spinning off some of the characters into their own novellas such as Trueheart and Baxter since the little slivers we get of them in the longer novels is never enough for me.
