About this audiobook
Read by the author.
A must-read for anyone who has ever asked God, "Why me?"
It's easy to trust God when things are going our way and the world makes sense. But when suffering strikes--especially seemingly senseless suffering--we are filled with doubt and stunned by events spiraling beyond our control.
In the midst of suffering, we often question the very foundation of our faith--our belief in the God who says he loves us. Since our trust and obedience rest on God's character, the questions that life's tragedies force us to face are difficult, even frightening:
- Who is God?
- Can he really be trusted?
- What are his purposes in the face of suffering?
- If he can stop suffering, why doesn't he?
Joni Eareckson Tada, a woman who has lived in a wheelchair for more than thirty years, and Steve Estes, a pastor and one of Joni's closest friends, explore the answers. When God Weeps is not so much a book about suffering as it is about God. It tackles tough questions about heaven and hell, horrors and hardships, and why God allows suffering in this life.
Through a panoramic overview of what the Bible says about suffering, the authors make clear who God is, why he permits so much heartache and pain, and how it is we can trust him. With both a practical edge and heartfelt warmth, When God Weeps offers dependence on his love and mercy in spite of our doubts, fears, longings, and questions.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It is difficult to see any purpose in suffering and pain, but God is always in control. His way is best, and He always work all things together for good for those who love Him. This is a well-written book from an author who knows the meaning of suffering and has found rest in the Lord.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Joni’s book, read in her own voice in the audio book version, exudes the faith, hope and love that only the One True God can provide. Full of scripture and anecdotes from one who has ‘been there and done that’, one stands in awe of the goodness of God that been shown to and through a paraplegic for more than 4 decades. Read and be encouraged as you hide these truths in your heart.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The parts written by Joni were excellent, answering a lot of questions about suffering and pain, from her own experience and that of some of her friends. The more formal parts written by Steve Estes were a bit irritating, however, not really answering questions at all but putting his personal doctrinal perspective.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very inspiring book with lots of memorable real life examples.
