Descrizione

They only come when it snows, and nobody ever gets away.

A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting…

Now a weekend of family, friends, and fun has turned into a test of love and loyalty in the face of inhuman horrors. The only hope for those huddled inside is to fight - tooth and nail, bullet and blade - for their lives. Otherwise, they'll end up like the monsters' other victims: bright pools of blood on glittering snow, screams lost in the vast mountains.

That last half of the book, was so suspenful i couldn't stop listening. The first half was mostly setup, which i guess is fine. But it's the last half, that gets all the stars

Man. This was one of those books where you're both too terrified to hear what happens next but also so into it that you just have to keep listening. I was on the edge of my seat.

Wow! I thought I was in the land of Stephen King!! A bit of a slow start but so worth it so stay tuned. This is one of those books that will stay with you for a while and have you checking the tree line! Excellent narration as well.

The writing is fine and the story was going ok and then it just ends. You never find out what happens to half the characters. Sad, could have been much better.

Thoroughly enjoyable thriller jam-packed with action. A wild wild ride! Recommended :)

This would make a great movie. Action packed and bloody. The characters were kind of surface level and I never got to know them enough to understand why their responses were what they were but I still enjoyed it. Ending felt appropriately hopeless.

Intense!Ryan and Jane are brother and sister and they want to have one last hurrah up in their father's cabin in the mountains of Colorado. Together with three friends they kick off their party very well. But little do they know that something is lurking deep in the dark woods. Creatures beyond imagining. Creatures with a thirst for blood and a taste for human flesh! This book was not scary per-say but it was very intense and thrilling. It was very well written and easy to follow the storyline in most parts. I had a little bit of trouble in the beginning but not much. The monsters are scary in such a way that the author leaves a lot to the imagination when she is describing these creatures. She definitely describes them and does it well, however I still don't have an exact print out in my head of what these monsters look like. Which to me is great because I love that the author left it up to us to decide what they truly look like. It makes for a scarier story.the characters are truly believable and the love triangle was perfectly written in such a way that you are wanting so badly for the book to end a specific way and I will not tell you whether it does or does not ? Ania Ahlborn is obviously a very gifted writer. I must confess this was my first book read by this author and she did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more of her other books some of which I have sitting on my shelves. ?I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good horror/thriller read.

Good story but follows Ahlborn’s predictable format for the ending. I kept hoping she’d shake it up this time but nah. She always provides a good read as long as you don’t care that every story ends the same way.

Didn't know who was gonna go down. But some of them would. Not a bad book

Love the story - its a great horror with a heartstopping ending (remember the Descent? Kind of like that), but the audio book narrator doing female voices is a big miss for me and it distracted me from enjoying this 100%.

This book did not disappoint. Thrilling, well written, and well executed. The ending made me feel like there should be a sequel.

Story is entertaining enough. The narrator really needs to work on his female voices. They sound either simpering or stupid. I think he could do a little better at portraying female characters.

Very underwhelming ending. Good character development although. A little back story also would have been great too. Had potential to be better, however, as is it wasn't bad

I feel like a jerk reviewing it, I could even listen to it but I’m hoping someone’ll maybe see this and fix the audio! I’m not sure what’s up but it’s skipping every other second or so. I tried turning blue tooth off as well as downloading instead of streaming over audio but to no avail. It’s a shame, it looks really good.

I like winter...heck I was born in a small Mid-West town in February, but good Lord I'm still freezing from the frigid cold air and snow surrounding this entire book. So true to life and character driven as usual for Ania Ahlborn from the horrible, vicious & starving creatures to the close family and friends who sought to mend bridges & fight their way out of that hellish winter madness they stumbled into. In my opinion, Bravo Ania! I'm a fan.

This was my first book by Ahlborn. It wasn't the best book I've ever read about a 'group of friends gathering during midwinter in a secluded cabin in the woods' but it was pretty good. The ending was probably my favorite part and I normally don't like open endings left up to the imagination of the reader but I loved the ending of this book! Oh man, it was perfect! I can't even imagine...Just when you think you're finally safe and WHAM!- You're right back where you started!

Also, I listened to the audio version. It was a good performance if you like audiobooks.

Confident book that's bloody good fun and so sure of its self it doesn't even have to give a name to the monsters, it's to enough to know what they can do.

A group of annoying twenty somethings (and their adorable dog) are trapped in a luxury cabin in the depths of winter. It is just like watching an average horror film, you know, the one where someone leaves the room and say's "I'll be right back....". Oh I don't think you will....

    Short,pacey read - perfect for a winter's evening

Mild spoilers......Holy crap! This book had me on the edge during the whole book. The first half of the book was full of tension between the people in the cabin. The whole "who will he pick" drove me crazy, I wasn't sure who to pull for...the girl who holds his future or the girl from the past. Then the blossoming relationship between Ryan and Lauren was such a sweet story line. Then the second half of the book I was on edge for a completely different reason....The Monsters! They were scaring and relentless in their pursuit of prey. What were they? Where were they from? Will they be back? And most importantly, do they live anywhere near me? The ending was insane. I can't recommend this book enough!

I loved this book! If you enjoy horror, this book is for you. It has excellent character development. I really felt as if I knew these people. Also, it was very gripping as the suspense of what would happen next kept building and building. My stomach was in a knot towards the end of the book! I love to read well-written horror, and Ania Ahlborn doesn't dissapoint. Stephen King is my favorite author, and reading this book evoked many of the same emotions I feel upon reading a King novel. I highly recommend all of Ms. Ahlborn's works and hope she soon receives the recognition she deserves.
