    1875, New Mexico Territory.

    But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

    Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella, he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation.       I can almost hear the pitch "Shane meets Fourth of July" and you wouldn't be far off if you approached it like that. Man with amnesia and initially no name rides into a town. On his arm is a strange metal device. The stranger finds out who he is and he's not sure he likes it. Add to it a strange woman, Ella, and some Apache Warriors, all of whom have to fight for survival against some aliens who just want the gold.I enjoyed the read, it was pretty harmless and now I'm looking forward to the film.

      Good book. I don't usually buy books that are adapted from screenplays, and wouldn't have bought this one had I noticed that was what it was BEFORE I made the purchase, but I enjoyed this book, and thought the storyline was interesting and the characters were engaging.
