- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Dolly Parton's book encouraging readers to actualize their dreams is a slim volume but it says all that probably needs to be said. The book reads with Dolly's gentle plainspun style and emphasizes the power of faith and self-discipline. I have always loved Dolly's singing voice and admired her individuality. I read the book with increased respect for her entrepreneurial vision and her generosity toward the region that nurtured her youth. I started reading Dream More in a bit of a funk and finished it feeling refreshed and inspired.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dolly Parton is...well just Dolly. She may be thinner, brighter and shinier, and certainly richer than than when she left that little shack in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains but her heart and her ideals remain the same. This is a small book, 122 pages, but it is packed with love and life. Anyone needing or wanting to be uplifted should read this book by the little lady with the mile-wide heart.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm probably the last person in the world my friends would think would read a book by Dolly Parton, but the truth is that since I've learned about her work in getting books into the hands of children I've found out that there is much more to this bottle blond bombshell than meets the eye.If anyone out there thinks Dolly Parton is stuck up, air-headed or the typical dumb blond then they definitely should read this book. In it she shares her views of her responsibilities as a celebrity and the reasons she feels the way she does about helping people. She shares her very simple (as in easily executed, not dumb) little instructions for a happier life and they are definitely things EVERYONE should keep in mind on a daily basis.I am not a religious person myself but the biblical references were not off-putting and helped round out Dolly's view of herself and the world.I learned a lot about Dolly Parton from this book and I appreciate her efforts to help those around her even more. Definitely this book is worth reading, especially if you are someone who needs a little life guidance with a smattering of humor.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Prior to reading this little inspirational memoir by Dolly, all I really knew about her was her botoxed body and the quote, "It takes a lot of money to look this fake." This inspirational guide filled me in on a lot more on who the hell Dolly really is.First off, I should clarify that I listened to the audiobook version which is narrated by Dolly herself. Second off, this isn't really an inspirational guide as it is a memoir of achievements, so it's really mainly for Dolly fans and not the average listener. She talks a lot about the importance of reading and dreaming but mainly does that so she can talk about her foundations and the work that she's done. Which to be clear, isn't a bad thing or anything. It's just not a guide to achieving your dreams or breaking any barriers. It wasn't a bad listen (there's lots of songs as well) but thankfully it was only an hour and a half. Meh.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A quick little book that gives some insight into Dolly's faith and why and what she believes. Dolly is very inspiring. Her life hasn't always been easy, but she has done so much good. An inspiring read that will make you believe that you can do even more than you imagine.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Dolly Parton shares her philosophy on life in her new book based on a commencement speech that she gave to graduating students at the University of Tennessee in 2009. Now she expands on her beliefs and urges readers to dream more, learn more, care more, and be more.Written in a conversational style with much humor and wit, Dolly offers her words of wisdom and advice gained over a lifetime of achievement. Her biggest wish is for people to dream more and stay true to those dreams. She tells us it’s alright to be a dreamer. That’s where great ideas start. She confesses she has always been a dreamer, still has dreams and will never stop working. She said it would be ok to drop dead on stage doing what she loves. Yes, she said that!Using examples from her life beginning with her childhood and growing up poor, Dolly talks about her early dreams of going to Nashville to be a star, doesn’t shy away from talking about her style of big hair, tight clothes and creating an appearance she was happy with. She is so open and forthcoming it’s difficult not to like her.I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Dolly herself. Her vibrant personality and her enthusiasm for life shines through. As a bonus, she treats the listener to some of her music occasionally bursting into song on a few of the tracks. I highly recommend the audio version. You can’t help feeling good when you are finished listening to this book.
