    As the Revolutionary War draws to an end, the violence on the frontier only accelerates. The infamous Girty brothers incite Indians to a number of massacres, but when the Village of Peace, a Christian utopian settlement, is destroyed, the settlers know they will have to hunt Chief Wingenund down.

    Lewis Wetzel, known to the Indians as the Death Wind, undertakes this mission of revenge. The stakes increase when he learns of a planned attack on Fort Henry. Armed with only his long rifle and knife, Wetzel sets out to single-handedly turn the tide in this bloody border war.

    Zane Grey (1872–1939) was an American writer best known for western literature. Born and raised in Ohio, Grey was one of five children from an English Quaker family. As a youth, he developed an interest in sports, history and eventually writing. He attended University of Pennsylvania where he studied dentistry, while balancing his creative endeavors. One of his first published pieces was the article “A Day on the Delaware" (1902), followed by the novels Betty Zane (1903) and The Spirit of the Border (1906). His career spanned several decades and was often inspired by real-life settings and events.

      In keeping with his time, Zane Grey romantisizes the story, but he nevertheless presents a great tribute to the men and women who gave so much in the first wave of westward expansion. The man is a great descriptive writer.

      Historical fiction about pioneer's in the Ohio valley during the late 1700's. This one is more grounded using actual characters of the Ohio frontier, including Lewis Wetzel and Sam Brady.

      Another great tale of long ago. The history of our young country is beautiful.
