Not one of my favorite Koontz novels but it wasn’t awful either, it’s one of his oldest books I believe.

This is a decent effort by Koontz, one of his better ones -- but far from his best. I found the plot largely boring, but the characters were interesting.

Not the Dean Koontz I am used to. Glad it wasn't my first Koontz because it wouldn't have inspired me to read more of his work. "Just OK"

Good thriller, had a good fast pace like most Koontz novels, kept me guessing with some good twists and turns. However, like most of his older novels, there isnt quite as much depth that i have come to expect from him as usual.

This was one of the Dean Koontz books I loved as a teenager and although I am still fond of it, and of him, I can no longer call them favourites. Joanna Rand lives in Kyoto, Japan, and owns the Moonglow Lounge. Suffering from terrible nightmares about a past she can't quite remember, Joanna is used to living alone and relying only on herself and a few trusted friends. When American private detective visits the bar on holiday he falls for Joanna, in true DK style because she is perfect in every way, beautiful, kind, vulnerable and in need of a big, tough man to save her. He feels that they have met before and realises that she is not who she says she is. She was once known to him as Lisa Chelgrin and he was assigned a case to find her as a missing person several years ago. He is intregued and suspicious and needs to find out why she has changed her name and country. But finding out the truth puts both their lives in danger. This book is fairly predictable, the characters are a bit flat and one-dimensionable but it is a story that can quietly entertain you for a few hours if you want to pass some time without having a lot to think about afterwards. It is another of Dean Koontz's altered memory books, a theme he is very fond of and although it isn't the best book I have ever read I do have a fondness for it since I enjoyed it so much as a teen. Not his best or his worst, worth a look if all you want is an entertaining way to pass some time. Good beach read maybe.
