- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not going to lie, I used to read this book to the cats at the shelter where I volunteered (someone donated it...I don't know why they thought stray cats needed a picture book, but whatever. I suppose they gave kibble to the local elementary school?). My coworkers thought I was insane, but I truly love this book. The pictures are adorable as is the story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Synopsis:Katie, the dog is so excited when Sara Ann brings home three little kittens that she can’t stop herself from howling and trying to run after them. But her enthusiasm frightens the kittens, and she’s sad when they run away from her. They don’t know that she just wants to play. Ultimately, she learns her lesson and they all become friends. The delightful, humorous illustrations can stand alone in telling the storyline. Primary students will certainly relate to Katie’s plight of learning self-control. My first grade students enjoyed the story; it was an excellent choice for making personal connections. My Uses: comprehension strategies – read the picture, text connections; problem/solution model; Responsive Classroom – self-control
