People are returning to the countryside

“Neither plough nor sow, but only live for pleasure, live only to breathe clean air.” This was how Russian writer Anton Pavlovic Chekhov described life in a dacia (summer house) in his 1898 book Novaya Dacha (The New Summer House). Rural life experienced through the dacia was born in Russia during the time of Peter the Great at the end of the 1700s. But Virgil had long before praised rural life in his famous poem, The Georgics, which is what this magazine has been doing for over thirty years. This month, love of the countryside emanates from a villa on the outskirts of Rome, not far from the sea, masterfully restored and furnished by the architect Stefano Dorata. A project that shines thanks to its symmetrical windows and doors that open out onto nature. In contrast, an eco-friendly (low energy consumption) and high-tech villa is the dream that a couple of doctors have turned into reality on the shore of Lake Orta, using a unique construction system patented by the architect Valentino Fantini from Novara. Finally, a farmhouse in the Marche has been completely renovated using original materials (from wood to the roof tiles) by the architects Giorgio Balestra and Silvia Brocchini, without compromising on the comforts of modern living. “Investing in a country house is a sure-fire way to protect and enjoy your assets at the same time. A positive market trend that should also continue next year, particularly if the government confirms the various property market bonuses in the pipeline. Refurbished properties are in greatest demand, but interest in farmhouses ripe for renovation is growing thanks this month found that there is high demand for villas and farmhouses on the outskirts of Italian villages, particularly if not far from the big cities. The October report explains that demand for investment opportunities under the million euro mark is particularly high, no more so than in the Chianti Classico area. This issue also contains many furnishing ideas, from today’s most trendy colours and the latest wall decor, to bathroom well-being solutions presented at the end of September at the Cersaie International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles and Bathroom Furnishings in Bologna.
