The Great Outdoors

BAD-WEATHER PLANS

• Plan big – but also, plan small. There are always hills• Incorporate one high but necessary pass between two different valleys. • Book accommodation as a way of obliging yourself to go. • Winter essentials make for a heavy sack already, so plan an overnight stop with food shops, pubs and a place to sleep indoors. • Have dry clothes at the journey’s end, not a bus ride away • Waterproof your boots, and enjoy dry feet among the slush for the first few hours of day 1. • Reproof your windproof and waterproof clothing.
