True blue bites!
ULTIMATE BEEF BURGER
SERVES 4 PREP 20 MINS + CHILLING COOK 20 MINS
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 4 cheese tasty slices
• 4 rashers rindless bacon
• lettuce, sliced tomato, beetroot, fried egg, tomato sauce, to serve
• 4 burger buns, split, toasted
PATTIES
• 500g beef mince
• ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• 1 tbsp tomato relish
• 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
ONION RINGS
• ²/ ³ cup self-raising flour
• ²/ ³ cup soda water (or beer)
• vegetable oil, for deep-frying
• 1 large onion, sliced into 1cm rings
1 Preheat oven to 180°C. Line an oven tray with baking paper.
2 PATTIES In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Season and mix well. Shape mixture into 4 even, flattened patties. Cover and chill until required.
Heat oil in a large frying pan on high. Cook patties 3-4 mins each side, until well browned. Transfer to tray. Top each patty with a cheese slice. Place in oven until ready to serve.
