True blue bites!

ULTIMATE BEEF BURGER

SERVES 4 PREP 20 MINS + CHILLING COOK 20 MINS

1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 cheese tasty slices
4 rashers rindless bacon
lettuce, sliced tomato, beetroot, fried egg, tomato sauce, to serve
4 burger buns, split, toasted

PATTIES

500g beef mince
½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tbsp tomato relish
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

ONION RINGS

²/ ³ cup self-raising flour
²/ ³ cup soda water (or beer)
vegetable oil, for deep-frying
1 large onion, sliced into 1cm rings

1 Preheat oven to 180°C. Line an oven tray with baking paper.

2 PATTIES In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Season and mix well. Shape mixture into 4 even, flattened patties. Cover and chill until required.

Heat oil in a large frying pan on high. Cook patties 3-4 mins each side, until well browned. Transfer to tray. Top each patty with a cheese slice. Place in oven until ready to serve.
