HAVING STARTED SEA fishing as a young boy, catching silver eels from the River Rumney near his home in Cardiff, Greg Bowes could never have imagined he would pioneer the idea of using a mothership to take him and his kayak many miles offshore to fish for big sharks.

Back in 1990, along with his brother Phil, he built and opened the Peterstone Trout Fishery, near Wentlooge, Newport, which they successfully managed for almost a decade. Being keen sea anglers, the brothers have owned several boats, the latest being a 23ft Arvor from which they regularly fish throughout the eastern end of the Bristol Channel.
