Pensioner Ronald C McDonald had played Santa for over 25 years.
And with his white hair and wire-rimmed glasses, he looked the part, too.
But as the festive season approached in 1997, the neighbourhood in northeast Seattle, USA, was rocked by the news that Ronald had been arrested.
He was accused of twice raping a little girl, 6, in his home.
McDonald immediately confessed to the crime.
