A day out with the National Trust

On the 125th anniversary of its inception, there’s no better place to appreciate evergreen British beauty than at one of countless National Trust sites across the country. From picture-perfect English gardens to magnificent medieval fortresses, we’re sharing our pick of their protected properties in the hope that we’ll inspire an end-of-year outing you’re sure to remember.

Knole House, KENT

Head to Sevenoaks and steep yourself in the 600 years of history to be found at Knole House. This Jacobean manor has been home to artists, archbishops and aristocracy alike, and is set in acres of beautiful parkland, with herds of roaming wild deer. It’s also home to one of the rarest collections, the original manuscript of which is still kept safely stored at Knole.
