The Large Key Plate issues of King George V
One of the most collectable issues of the King George V and VI period is the Large Key Plates (also known as the ‘Nyasa’ design). Developed from a King Edward VII issue of 1908 for Nyasaland, the colourful issues were designed to pay for larger postal rates, usually from 2/-to £1 and for revenue purposes, usually with values greater than £1.
The two colour printings were, in the main, printed on coloured paper, which gave the issues a three colour design. When mounted on an album page, this colour gives a very attractive display.
