    When Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) recently released the economic growth figures for the second quarter (Q2) of 2020, the media went to town about the 50%+ decrease in the size of the economy.

    For Stats SA, the annualised value of the quarter-to-quarter change in the size of the GDP is the main indicator of economic growth.
