The beautiful Greek Island of Ikaria in the Aegean Sea is considered a ‘Blue Zone’, the term used to describe the regions that the world’s longest-living people call home. The food is not processed and is still prepared and eaten as it was 60 years ago. Fresh, local produce is made into nutritious meals prepared from scratch and eaten at the dinner table with family and friends.

I learned from the locals that olive oil and fresh, seasonal vegetables are of the utmost importance. Olive oil is the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet - an everyday food.
