Checklist

• Feed leafy vegetables with a nitrogen-rich fertiliser.• Use organic insecticide and snail bait to eradicate aphids and snails.• Water as early as possible so leaves dry out by evening. Keep soil moist but not soggy.• Plant out asparagus crowns.• Order seed potatoes.• Till compost, well-rotted manure and other organic material into empty beds in preparation for August and September planting.• Moisten compost heaps (in dry areas) and turn regularly to speed up decomposition.
