WHAT ARE MAGIC BLOCKS?

Magic blocks, also called disappearing blocks, are the names given to blocks that start out in one simple layout, but by judicious cutting, re-arranging and sewing, become a different looking block. Sometimes it’s hard to see how the final block is the result of the original block, hence the words ‘magic’ and ‘disappearing’. There are many blocks that you can try this technique with and you may already be familiar with creating a Disappearing Nine-patch block, which is something of a favourite with quilters.
