JESSICA POTASZ FROM MAMA IN A STITCH SHARES HER FIBRE ART JOURNEY

“People within the yarn community have been so kind to me”

Hi, I’m Jessica and I’m obsessed with knitting and crochet! I’ve loved art ever since I was a little girl, but didn’t discover fibre arts until I had myto go along with being mama. When I thought about knitting and crochet they seemed perfect, because I could tote my projects everywhere and work on them whenever I had a spare moment to myself. After failing to learn how to knit by reading a book – I almost gave up for good! – YouTube got me hooked and I never looked back. I love creating simple, I began scribbling my designs and patterns on little sticky notes that would get lost all over the house, so I thought it might be helpful to keep track of them on a blog. I started Mama in a Stitch back in 2014, and over five years after my first blog post, I’m still at it and it’s become a legit job. People within the yarn community have been so kind to me and such a support over the years. It sounds so cliché, but A few months ago, I was humbled and honoured to be awarded the Dedicated Indie Designer of the Year award in The Crafties, Love Crafts’ 2019 craft blogger awards. It was such a shock and excitement to see Yvette, Editor of , announce it on Instagram! One of the greatest honours in my life is the opportunity to be a in this creative community, and for their lives to be a part of mine.
