‘Facing cancer again felt like a kick in the stomach. I thought it would never happen’
Since the devastating diagnosis three months ago that she is suffering from breast cancer for the second time – and that it’s an even more aggressive type than before – Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao has not only undergone a gruelling course of chemotherapy, she has also made dramatic changes to her lifestyle to fight it.
Now, in this interview and photoshoot with HELLO! , she exclusively reveals that the scan result she received last week has shown how she has defied medical odds: just halfway through her treatment, half the cancer has vanished.
“Neither my doctors nor I could believe it,” says Jacquie, who is suffering from grade 3, stage 4 cancer, which is treatable but incurable. “My breast surgeon told me: This is not normal, Jacquie,’ and my oncologist said: We don’t usually see a response like this. This is way better than we ever anticipated. You’ve overachieved!’
