make star ratings near meaningless. This 12-movie collection includes some of the worst and some of the best monster movies ever made. You don’t even need to qualify that statement with “Japanese, suitmation monster movies” (which generally require some quality threshold recalibration). There are some cinematic travesties here, only fodder, but also some absolute gems. Ludicrous, googly-eyed giant turtle Gamera himself remains consistently endearing throughout.
