    On the north-west coast of Scotland, near Ullapool, lies 2 Durnamuck, an unexpected plant paradise. Gardens are few and far between in this remote part of the British Isles. Despite the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, gardening here isn’t for the faint-hearted; high rainfall (70 inches on average), strong winds and hungry deer mean creating a place for plants to thrive is a challenge. So to find a garden packed with exotic plants from South Africa, Chile and New Zealand, overlooking Little Loch Broom with panoramic views of the mountain of Sail Mhor and An Teallach, is a truly breath-taking surprise.
