With the mid-June restart of football, Italy has just set out on a post-COVID voyage into a “no man’s land” where there are no maps and no certainties, especially with regard to the 2020-21 season.

Italy, which experienced a strict three-month lockdown and the loss of 34,000 people during the COVID-19 pandemic, is bracing itself for a crisis that will see a 9.5 per cent drop in GDP in an already struggling economy.
