As a route between the floors of a house, the staircase has a practical function. But it’s also a major feature of a home, and frequently one of the first sights that greets you as you walk through the front door. The position of the stairs is important so it doesn’t hinder circulation through your property, but even if it’s in the right place, the materials used for the various elements of the staircase could be reconsidered in order to boost the flow of light through the house.
