David Hahn had always been fascinated with science.

When he was 10, he got a copy of The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments and set up a lab in his bedroom.

That was until he accidentally made nitroglycerine and almost blew up his room.

After that, his experiments were restricted to the shed in the backyard.

In 1994, David, then 15, joined the Boy Scouts.
