The feeling of stumbling across one of her own eponymous boutiques whilst strolling through some of the world’s most alluring destinations is never lost on Nicky Zimmermann. Despite it being a frequent occurrence for the Zimmermann founder, who has opened 42 stand-alone stores in locations as glamorous and far-reaching as Capri, St Tropez, East Hampton, Palm Beach, St Barts and Cannes, since its inception in 1991.
Loved for its dreamy, grown-up femininity the brand has an annual turnover of nearly £60 million and its celebrity followers include Margot Robbie, Beyoncé, Kate Middleton, Jessica Hart and Kendall Jenner.
When we speak to Nicky on the phone she is travelling home from her Sydney HQ (it’s breakfast time in London); you’d hardly know we are over 10,000 miles away and on opposite sides of the world as she enthusiastically tells us how it all began, after she graduated from East Sydney Tech in 1989.
