It is said our wildlife is becoming more bold as the lockdown keeps people indoors and vehicles — for the most part at least — off our streets. We’ve always had urban foxes in this London suburb but there do seem to be more of them; my husband and I were kept awake during the bank holiday mini heatwave by their screaming.
It reminded me of Captain Ronnie Wallace’s quest for “the first of May fox” in the days before the pernicious 2004 Hunting Act. Capt Wallace
