THE INSIDE STORY
SIR ANDY MURRAY GAME FOR A LAUGH AS HE SERVES UP TIARA TREAT ON FAMILY PLAYDAY
Tennis star Sir Andy Murray is no stranger to Queen’s – having won the pre-Wimbledon tournament a record five times – but when he let his daughters Sophia and Edie choose his outfit during a dressing-up game, the good sport ended up looking more like a princess.
Displaying the results on his Instagram, the proud Scot couldn’t stop smiling as he showcased his T-shirt, kilt and matching tiara (left). “When your daughters want to play dress up and say: Daddy put on your skirt!’ I tried to explain it was a kilt not a skirt but they assured me it was definitely a skirt,” he wrote.
Currently keeping safe at the family’s home in Surrey with wife Kim and their three children – they also have a baby son, Teddy – the two-time Wimbledon champ’s faultless fancy dress performance was a huge hit with fans.
And he hasn’t forgotten about his tennis family, either, as Sir Andy (right, after winning Wimbledon in 2016) recently tried to rally support for lower-ranked players, who are struggling financially during the pandemic. Suggesting winners’ prize money at the biggest events should be slashed, he said: “The cheque is something like $4m [£3.2m]. Could that money be used better and spent elsewhere in earlier rounds or the qualifying draws, or maybe to grow some of the smaller events?”
