RUNNING WITH SHERMAN by Christopher McDougall (Profile, R295)

journalist and freelancer McDougall takes in Sherman, a neglected donkey, after moving with his family to a farm in Pennsylvania in the US. Due to suffering abuse, the obstinate) racing, which involves running with a donkey on a lead rope attached to a halter, McDougall decides to give Sherman something worth living for, and begins running with him. Over time, and with the support of his Amish farmer community and his wife, McDougall begins to develop a close relationship with Sherman, and the donkey begins to trust his new owner.
