THE COLOUR SCHEME

‘In some of the original spaces, in the heritage part of the home, we wanted to create uniformity within the various finishes by staining and painting most of this black. It resulted in a sophisticated aesthetic with a contemporary edge. It also emphasised many of the master details, which were preserved in the original heritage part of the home,’ says architect Alexia Cocolas.

For architect Alexia Cocolas of Johannesburg’s Studio of Architecture (STOA), reconceiving this family abode in Westcliff was a dream project.
