ELEMENTAL AKL

1-31 July

This new event on the winter calendar is a crazily ambitious region-wide festival, and its mammoth programme is a little bit more than intimidating to look at. It is sectioned loosely into four categories — dazzling light shows, cultural spectaculars, uplifting entertainment and regional flavours. Interesting happenings to look out for include free light-art experience Turama Festival, the Auckland Food Show, First Thursdays on Karangahape Rd, urban street party Te Korakora on Federal, and Elemental Feast, where more than 100 eateries celebrate one of the elements with a special dish.
