Comic book scrapping

In the past, comics were not generally held in high regard, especially as an art form or as quality reading for that matter. Yet towards the end of the 20th century, comics began to garner more appreciation and greater acceptance, and can now be found in many different forms across a wide range of cultures. The term ‘comics’ derives its origins from within early 20th century American newspapers. At the time, comics were generally comical. The term stuck and is now also used for non-humorous work.

So what are comics exactly? Basically, they’re a visual medium used to express stories via panels of images, which are often accompanied by text in the form of speech balloons, captions and sound effects.

VISUAL ELEMENTS WHICH ARE COMMON IN COMICS INCLUDE:

Panels – which are individual images containing a segment of action. The size and arrangement of panels can also control narrative pacing and panels often are surrounded by a border.
