Customising the Ruger No.1

Bill Ruger must have been a very creative, interesting and most determined man. He was responsible for developing several ranges of firearms, covering an enormous spectrum of concerns from both a modern and traditional perspective. Ruger’s obvious inventive genius was nothing short of obsessive, as some of his designs and promotional ideas were well outside the conventional market wisdom of the day, and viewed with considerable bemusement by many so called market and journalistic ‘experts’.

One of his best, and successful outside-the-square examples is undoubtedly the Ruger No. 1 single-shot rifle. The first Ruger No. 1 was, after years of development, released in 1967 when the very idea of using a single-shot rifle for virtually any application other than target shooting was all but dead and buried. Just more than 50 years later, and with world-wide sales
