The CZ527 American Sporter in .204 Ruger

The name CZ (or Ceska Zbrojovka) and its tumultuous history, having links with the famed Brno marque and emerging from post-Cold War Europe, is one still embraced by many Australian shooters and hunters alike.

The highly-regarded Brno .22LR rimfire and ZKK centrefire rifles are highly sought after and the current CZ offerings such as CZ455 rimfires and CZ557 centrefires continue to sell extremely well. One rifle which many Australian small-game and varmint shooters retain a fondness for is the old Brno Fox model, which many years ago dominated the professional fox and kangaroo shooting scene. This particular rifle just worked and well-kept examples command a decent price on the used-gun market. With this in mind, CZ continues to produce the CZ527, a rifle which has all the hallmarks of the venerable Brno Fox, including a properly scaled action for the calibres available and a true control round feed in the Mauserr was approached by Winchester Australia, the CZ importer and distributor in Australia, to review one of the models in the CZ527 American Sporter in .204 Ruger. The rifle was supplied with a well-appointed Meopta Meopro 3-9x42 riflescope and CZ rings, along with a few packets of Winchester factory loads in .204 Ruger.
