According to the Australian Medical Association, children as young as seven are developing type 2 diabetes, a disease that can result in kidney failure, blindness and the need to have a limb amputated just 10 years after diagnosis. So, for a seven-yearold child with type 2 diabetes, life would look very different by the time they turn 17.
