In South Africa it began 40 years ago, hesitantly at firs en boomed into a craze, before petering out. Here in the Eastern Cape, clubs sprang up all over the place but the Big Wheel has turned a full circle and sadly those clubs no longer exist. Even the gun shops that once displayed replicas of antique guns no longer stock these. Worse still, the accessories needed to load and fire muzzle-loading guns are no longer available. This sad situation exists not only in South Africa; a friend who has just returned from a trip to Germany says when he visited a big Frankonia dealership, he was amazed to find their once well-stocked muzzle-loader department no longer existed.
