Work is Worship

Did you know, the Hebrew word is translated in the English Bible for both work and worship? Most people spend 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, sitting behind a desk or in an office. We Instead of thinking, ‘Oh man, work is so tough at the moment,’ rather shift your focus and think, ‘Wow God, You have blessed me with a job that challenges me. Thank You for the opportunities that You provide.’ Working hard and being diligent are ways of honouring God. Working hard is giving an offering to Christ. It is sacrificing your time, your efforts. This means that your workplace is God’s place. It is where we get to express the compassion of Christ in word and deed. Remember, God has ordained your footsteps. He has placed you where you are, in the job that you are in, surrounded by the people around you. Some Christians are blessed to work in a Christian working environment, but the majority spend their days surrounded by unbelievers. Do you recognise this missionary opportunity? God has a plan for your life – you simply need to trust in Him and seek His guidance. And always, in all things, worship Him for who He is and what He has done for you.
